Graduation 2012

Personal days approved for April/May for Grand Hotel week and Amanda's graduation week. Now to catch an early flight on May 2nd to be at Graduation for the Herberger that afternoon. Yikes....what a week. If I can come up with the $$ will go back 2 weeks later for Tommy's wedding. I so want to be there but want to go to Luke's wedding with the rest of my family...so torn and so poor! It is what it is!!!

Visit over

Matt has already left for Chicago, less than 48 hours of his arrival. He and his dad enjoyed the North American Auto Show, we celebrated his birthday, ate cake, junk, went to Walmart, stayed up late, iChated with Andrew & Amanda and I am ready to cry. I so look forward to visits and they are over so fast. I still have a bunch of stuff to do and just don't have the will to even start. Matt had work on his car to do, the snow and storm was so bad on Friday that his air filter got wet and he had a hard time driving. Took over 6 hours. I was racing like a maniac to get a haircut, dye & dry, do a couple errands and pick up balloons, snacks and Jet's!!! YUM! Stayed up as late as I could but it is NEVER long enough! Off to correct papers and do grades. Made lasagna and turkey soup to last the week. Hair and manicure look great....(in my opinion) now to get this foot healed....it is what it is!

Matt's 28th

Matt struggled thru the horrible weather to get home last night.....snow and disgusting drivers for nearly 8 hours. So glad he did but he had car issues. Today he and Otto enjoyed the North American Auto Show at Cobo (was asked but no didn't want to go) and I had numerous errands and shopping to do and my foot is still not totally recovered and I worry about crowds....anyway, after a chicken parisian salad we decided to run over to the Plymouth Ice Festival, the 30th. We have gone for many years and we were sorely disappointed. There were more carnival wagons offering treats than sculptures. People can't go 20 minutes without popcorn, hot chocolate and sausages. So sad to see this because it used to be a real treat with hundreds of ice sculptures. We valet parked because of me and came back to find our car left with a window open and no one around. I had left my purse in the car the the "valet boys" claimed they were right there so no worried. Idiots. Matt...

Banner Day

Cast is off, I am back to my pre-Christmas weight which means the 10 lbs. I lost since school started is still lost! Gained a few over the holidays and with the cast but jeans fit great now. Still have 20 to go until goal. I am going to do it this year.....goal! BTW tomorrow. I am scared that someone will step on my foot or kick me or something. Also nervous that I won't be able to stay off it and ice/rest. Will come right home after school. So much shopping to catch up on, we are out of EVERYTHING and there is only so much that Otto will/can do. Excited for Matt to be home this weekend for his Birthday. Will have time to shop while they go to the Auto Show. I went once...enough for me and too much walking anyway, so I will stay home, prop and ice! It is what it is!

January...half-way through.

Home again with 2nd foot surgery. This one not as extensive as the Nov. 2011 surgery on the same foot. Only one toe lifted and screwed in and a bundle of nerves removed. Still have a cast. Day 4. Lovely purple and I took 3 days off work. Hard to rest but it is awkward and uncomfortable. So much Christmas to put away yet. I try to do a bit and then rest. Amanda flew back to AZ last Sunday, her last long break ended as she will graduate in May and plans are to stay in AZ, work and maybe move to CA by end of summer. It is What it Is, that's for sure. I may to always agree but it is not my life. Just hope it gets all sorted out and works for all of them. I trust them to figure it out. It's always exciting to start a new adventure but as parents you always would like the outcome to be positive and work out. Snowy day again. Dark, cloudy again and light snow just like yesterday. Probably not going anywhere today or tomorrow or the next day. Need a few Target things...

Happy New Year

Enjoying the last few days of catching up on everything. Have enjoyed hanging around with Amanda and doing lots of not much. Eating popcorn, movies, shopping. Hate to go back to work tomorrow. She has until Sunday here in Michigan and then the new semester starts, her last! I miss her soooo much when she leaves and I am scheduled for more foot surgery next Wed. so I will be house bound for a couple of days. Not looking forward to that. I have to take it all down and pack it all away. Just got it all up and I started the weekend after Thanksgiving. With so many activities and papers to grade, and shopping and stuff, it takes forever to do a little at a time. And we do a LOT! It is so much fun and we do it for ME! LOL And of course the kids. No parties here this year, ok by me. I had all the kids here. I resolve to be more patient, take better care of me, not be so grumpy, try to keep caught up, cut back on spending and love more! It is what it is!
