Day 44: April 27, 2020

I vowed to blog more with the quarantine but I have been so darn busy with school lessons and trying to figure out Google Classroom that there has been very little extra time. I had a "breaking point" on my last blog post.  I think we are all at a breaking point especially to hear another 2 weeks of staying home to stay safe. I could not join the distribution of the computers at my school as I am high risk with asthma and breathing problems and I AM OLD!   I did get a Dr. note but I am not one to shy back on volunteering as most everyone knows ALL the stuff I do at school and out of school. I think I got the hang of the Google Classroom lessons and since we are thematic for the next 7 weeks, creating a weekly math lesson with follow-up worksheets has been kind of fun.  I get very nervous trying to remember how to do it all correctly. Cancelled my May trip to Boston, another heartache but I realize it could be much worse for me and my family.  LA, Chicago and ...

35, 36....anyone besides me at the breaking point yet.....I can't do this anymore

I am just out of patience.  I am sick of being quarantined.  Sick of being home.  Sick of this shit.  I want to throw something. I want to go away.  I want life back to normal.    I can't do this anymore.  I can't stand working.  I can't stand this on-line living.  I don't know what to do.  I feel like no one cares about us or anyone.  I have not been sick but I am at wits end.  Anyone else feel this way? It is what it is and I am about to blow up.   Anyone else feel this way?    My stupid robot vacuum knocked down my egg tree and broke about everything on it.  Everything went wrong today.  Anyone else feel this way? I can't do it!  It isn't what it use to be.......ugh and I am so mad.............can you tell?

Days 31, 32, 33, 34....Friday at last but what is a weekend?

The week flew by because we are back to work in a weird way.  Preparing to do on-line distance learning for the last 6 weeks of school.  Don't ask!   The district is planning to distribute chrome books (not sure why it took so long and why bother now) instead of continuing with packets that would be much cheaper and more widespread.  In our district, many don't have internet, and one computer will not sufficiently service a large family.  But, don't ask me, I have only worked there 20 years and am not in charge. Enough of that.   We have spent the week watching videos, on-line meetings, trying to learn this in 5 days compared to people that have been doing it for 5 years. I now know of 4 people that I am connected to that died of COVID.   No words.  I don't know what to say.  How are we going to get back to normal?  How are we going to teach school?  This is not going to go away anytime soon but there are idiots that are not f...

28, 29, 30 Easter Quarantine

Saturday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday Days we had looked forward to that were days we still are in quarantine and staying home.  My big event was taking the car out Friday to do a quick garage delivery for my M-I-L.  I told her to open the garage and stay in the house but does she listen?   NO, had to open the door and ask if I was coming in!!! WHAT!!!!!!  Does not at all get this at 97. Did some prep work for Sunday, more painting and took the dog for a long walk on Saturday. Sunday was busy in that I cooked a big brunch of my egg and cheese casserole, sausages and champagne.  Kept busy (no painting) listening to Sunday service, long dog walk, cooked a big dinner of ham, cheesy potatoes, salad, asparagus, yeast rolls, deviled eggs and a cherry cheese pie. Had a fun FaceTime video with the whole family at 8:00 EST, crazy all at once with 3 kids 5 and under. Today, Monday is our last day of Spring Break.  don't know what tomorrow will bring wit...

How did it get to be Friday already? Days 26, 27

So much has changed in the last 4 weeks but Fridays still come around quickly.  It's just there isn't the fun times on the weekends to look forward to.  Shopping, staying home or going out, catching up on house chores, laundry, church, breakfast or dinner out with friends, sleeping in late, staying up late, now every day is just every day. I miss having all the social things I/we do.  I don't think I realized how much we do until we couldn't do it anymore.  I know it is just temporary but we just had another 3 weeks added to our "Stay Home"  order which puts us at the end of April.  This virus is brutal and the most devastating killer of our lives.  We don't know where it is going or how long it will last. Did my 3rd FaceTime piano lesson, going quite well, albeit slower because I have to stop and write everything!! This week I managed to clean the whole house doing a few rooms at a time.  I started painting the white doors in the downstairs...

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday Days 22, 23, 24, 25.

I'm not keeping up here!  Plus the days kind of run in to each other!.  Weekends aren't as special because there is no place we can go and no one we can meet with.  I found some odds and ends around the house and made a few makeshift Easter cards for my 3 grandchildren and wrote them checks.  Not as much fun as shopping for something for them! Talk with the neighbors a lot (from a distance of course), FaceTime a lot, watch a lot of tv and find A LOT of extra time that I never had before. My puzzle is very hard and I can't stay with it long.  I walk Lucy every day.  I am cleaning more.  I started painting the white doors in the house (there is a ton of painting I need to do, it's been years).  It is too early to plant anything and we can't go to the store for supplies. I did get a Shipt order on Monday that was placed in the morning.  She was very good and text me to let me know all the changes needed on my list.  She delivered ever...

Friday April 3rd and Saturday April 4th

Days 21 & 22 Getting lost in the days of COVID.  Friday was filled with last minute decisions on schoolwork and how we are going forward after spring break.  Glad we had a time to Google Hangouts with our team building associates.  (Virtual happy hour).  Did fish & chips and paid for it all night....never that much fried take out again!   Running out of TV shows! FaceTimed with the entire family, Chicago:  Hannah & Ethan, Boston, and LA Harper.   I should have been on a plane to LA last night and arrived for my 10 day trip.  I get it and trying NOT to get it. Saturday trying to fill the time since I can't fill the stores.   Raked yard, did some cleaning and laundry (yippeee skippeee) and did a social distancing with backyard neighbors, sent home-made Easter cards to my grandchildren since we can't buy anything and worked on my 1000 piece balloon puzzle.    B'dubs on line.    Still have an e-book to read a...
