Dog Day's of Summer

So much has happened!!! Just finished Creative Inklings Writing Camp. What a fun experience....third year. Nice to have some of my kids from the class that closed back for camp. Published a narrative on my experience for my birthday and the big surprises. Doesn't get much better. Will copy and paste eventually! What a fine 4th of July weekend. Sad to see Bryce go home today after nearly 3 weeks of him here. Kinda part of the fam now! I understand that life awaits back in Phoenix. Only 3 weeks until Amanda goes back to Phoenix and 3 mos. until Cindy and Tom's big birthday bash in Phoenix and 4 mos. until Thanksgiving when everyone can come back. Time sure goes fast. It has been a month since school let out. Math class flew by, camp flew by and the kids all being home together for a long weekend seems weeks ago. Like one of the poems I wrote for camp said.....Love my life, need more time (your life in 6 words). Big storms going through here today. Second day of 90 plus. It dropped from 92 to 74 in a few minutes with a huge wind, rain and lightening storm. Was at Heartland and went to Just Baked for goodbye cupcakes for Bryce and Amanda.
Still have no position for the fall, have a job but don't know where since my Title I math position closed. My 56 boxes sit in my office waiting for a place to land.
Casey is completely blind and a lot of her hearing is gone. Does not make life for her or us easy. My niece had her baby today. Zoey Ann Grace 6 lbs. 19 inches. Geeze a tiny one! LOL
Glad all went well for her and baby. Hope to go later this week to see her.
Have been on-the-go since Bryce landed on June 29th. Would have been Duke's 90 birthday this year. Felt bad that Bob could not be here, he wanted to come for my birthday but my house was full big time and no way to get him here. Bus and train are so expensive. I felt even worse when he called to let me know he was upset that I hadn't called to thank him for the dozen roses he sent. I didn't call because I never received them. Computer glitch I guess. Thank goodness he received a refund and I received a beautiful arrangement from the Livonia florist that never received the order. Please patronize French's florist....they are awesome!
Mega surprise to have Tom and Cindy fly in from Phoenix to surprise me on my actual birthday at B'dubs. Not expecting that. And then to spend the day with Cindy on Saturday the 2nd, only to come home to a houseful of friends and the 2nd surprise of my lifetime! What a weekend we had. So many laughs, way too much food and way too many margaritas. This blog is way too long so I should finish the rest of the story in Part II.........it is what it is...more storms on the way today and more 90 degrees this week.

Delta Dog Days 3

 We have not been able to leave her alone for more than a few minutes.  UGH newborn.  She is a sweetheart and not bothered or barking at other dogs. After I worked at the Thrift shop I took her up to the pool deck and locked the gate.  She is so small  she got through the rungs of the deck.  ðŸ˜³  It is what it is.  She is so sweet but so is needy and so challenging.

Delta Dog Day 4

 Beyond belief, we both got to sleep upstairs in our bed all night!  She could not scale the new gate and settled in her crate in the kitchen around 2:00 AM.  Otto gave me the night but after she settled, he came upstairs and she did not bark or whine all night!!!   I came down after a shower, took her outside on her lead and then fed her.  Back upstairs to do my hair etc.  I heard "something" and came downstairs to find that she had opened the pantry (that has a magnet closure on it for dog/children safety) and had a bag of marshmallows on the floor, not opened thank goodness.   I blocked it with a chair but removed anything that she could get to if she opened it again (within her reach).  NOTE:  new plan for pantry.   Later in the day we were sitting outside with her and she picked some cherry tomatoes and ate them (yes I checked on Google that they are NOT poisonous for dogs).  After dinner with friends, she snatched a corncob an...

School's out, teacher let the fools out!

No more pencils, no more books, no more STUDENT'S dirty looks! What a group I had this year, eiy yie yie! I can honestly say if I never see some of that bunch again, it will be too soon. Fun party last night...too tired to sleep! Nice feeling to sleep in. ADK party this afternoon, piano lesson (may have to re-schedule), picking up new car in Ann Arbor and going to Amanda's 2 baseball games. Nice video chat with Andrew & Matt last night. They get so silly! Brian landed safely in L.A. at 2:09 our time. His plane from Philly was delayed over 3 hours. All day to go 5 hours sucks, but he is safe! Congratulations Matthew Sandoval on your middle school graduation. Have fun with your family. I cleaned out 2 filing cabinets of old 4th grade files and old materials we don't use any more.
