Washington DC in February
Landed by 9:00 AM yesterday. Had an amazing lunch at a Middle Eastern place with A & B. YUM. Spent an hour at Plane park....OMG I never tire of watching the planes. It was in the 50's but windy and quite chilly but blue skies and perfect. We spent the afternoon at Crate & Barrel outlet, Crate & Barrel in Clarendon, Williams Sonoma, went to Whole Foods and Harris Teeter. Brian cooked an amazing chicken and rice dinner that I have to have the recipe for! Slept in this morning because we were all up early yesterday. Brian again cooked a delicious Fratatta and we were off to the spice store to buy oodles of spices. By the time we got to the Newseum, we decided to go and buy tickets with the idea that we can go back tomorrow. People behind us asked us to split a 2/1 ticket and we had a coupon so the 3 of us got in for 30.00 instead of 60.00. What an awesome day! They closed at 5 so we had to leave but will go early tomorrow to see the rest. Drove to the Pentagon to see that Memorial. The 9/11 Memorial at the Newseum is so overwhelming that it takes awhile to digest, then the Pentagon Memorial is, again, overwhelmingly sad. Glad to be "home". Brian is making a sausage/kale soup and Mike K. is here but we are all to full from salsa/bean dips to eat! It was extremely cold today, no snow or rain but I feel sorry for the Pansies...they might need to be re-planted. So glad to be here, my last trip before Andrew & Brian move to Boston April 1st. I LOVE the Capitol of our country...it is what it is and I am so glad to be what it is for a few days!
