You Can Pick Your Friends.....

Interesting comment from Amy Dickinson who writes a column called "Ask Amy".  "Family is not a status confined to those who share your DNA.  "Family are also the people who pick up your call on the first ring, put on a pot of coffee when you drop in, easily forgive your transgressions, laugh with you, cry alongside you, and importantly, love your kids along with you.  She continues saying that many readers have honorary "aunts, uncles and cousins", who are not actual family members but long-standing family friends.  These relationships are a gift".  She put to print what I have said all along about my family.  Those family members have been "Family" for so many years, we have all forgotten they are not related!

As to the laugh part, there are times when I have not been able to breathe, I have laughed so hard with my "sister".  It is what it is and I will be ready to write about losing another brother soon.  What a week this has been!

 We have not been able to leave her alone for more than a few minutes.  UGH newborn.  She is a sweetheart and not bothered or barking at other dogs. Delta Dog Day 4

 Beyond belief, we both got to sleep upstairs in our bed all night!  She could not scale the new gate and settled in her crate in the kitchen around 2:00 AM.  Otto gave me the night but after she settled, he came upstairs and she did not bark or whine all night!!!   I came down after a shower, took her outside on her lead and then fed her.  Back upstairs to do my hair etc.  I heard "something" and came downstairs to find that she had opened the pantry (that has a magnet closure on it for dog/children safety) and had a bag of marshmallows on the floor, not opened thank goodness.   I blocked it with a chair but removed anything that she could get to if she opened it again (within her reach).  NOTE:  new plan for pantry.   Later in the day we were sitting outside with her and she picked some cherry tomatoes and ate them (yes I checked on Google that they are NOT poisonous for dogs).  After dinner with friends, she snatched a corncob an...

School's out, teacher let the fools out!

No more pencils, no more books, no more STUDENT'S dirty looks! What a group I had this year, eiy yie yie! I can honestly say if I never see some of that bunch again, it will be too soon. Fun party last night...too tired to sleep! Nice feeling to sleep in. ADK party this afternoon, piano lesson (may have to re-schedule), picking up new car in Ann Arbor and going to Amanda's 2 baseball games. Nice video chat with Andrew & Matt last night. They get so silly! Brian landed safely in L.A. at 2:09 our time. His plane from Philly was delayed over 3 hours. All day to go 5 hours sucks, but he is safe! Congratulations Matthew Sandoval on your middle school graduation. Have fun with your family. I cleaned out 2 filing cabinets of old 4th grade files and old materials we don't use any more.
