California Here I Am

Only three short days to enjoy the sand, sun, and surf and this morning we don't have any of these!  It is rather hazy and in the 60's but will warm to 70 later today.
What an ordeal to get here.  After sitting at the airport for 2 hours on Sunday, I learned my flight to Chicago would be so late I would miss the connection to LA and it was the last one of the night going out through American connections.  After a few well chosen words of anger, they offered to put me on a plane to Charlotte, NC in the morning and then to LA by about 4:30.  (Turns out there was a major weather issue along the east coast yesterday!)  Being the calm person I am I said "you can do better than that".  They sent me to the ticket counter where the agent did.  She got me a seat thru Dallas and I was in LA by 1:30 Monday afternoon.  What a pain to have to return home (close but still) and unpack for the night.  Anyway, just a couple snags here and there put me in LA to be able to enjoy the afternoon and evening in the sunshine and 65 degrees.  Since it was -10 on the way to metro Monday morning at 6AM, 70 degrees warmer felt pretty good.

We enjoyed a long walk around the LaBrea tar pits but it was too late to hit the museums.  It was fun to people watch as yesterday was President's Day and so many people were around the parks.  The food trucks were very tempting!

Tried to watch Downton Abbey after Amanda's delicious dinner of baked chicken/potatoes but could not keep awake.  I had been awake since 2AM and it was now 8PM Los Angeles time.  I dozed on part of the 6 hours of plane time but still.  I had been up the better part of 24 hours.  Maybe tonight we can watch it again and parts of Saturday Night Live we missed.  Oh wait, we have Wicked Tickets at the Pantages in Hollywood tonight.   I forgot my mink!  Now to get rid of this sinus thing I brought with me from Michigan.  It is what it is.  I am glad to be here even if it is only for a few days!
