July...slow down please!

Well, the shower is over, only Amanda is here a few more days.  We had a great time all together but so busy getting ready there hardly seemed time to truly visit.  Hannah is growing up so fast.  Crawls all over, recognizes us, laughs, waves, babbles and pulls herself up and can go up a flight of stairs.  Her 1st birthday will be here way too soon.

We had a beautiful day for the shower.  A squall before the shower but it was 92 and humid all day!  The balloons were forgotten, the chicken stayed in the oven downstairs as it was thought to be an extra pan.  Amanda & Bryce received a lot of very nice things.  Many were already shipped to CA and BBB shipped anything they received free of charge!  The day flew by, many wonderful long-time friends shared it with us, enduring the "Dobos-hottest-day-in-summer" party.  By Sunday, Matt, Dana and Hannah were back home in Chicago after a 7 hour drive in construction traffic, Andrew was back in Boston (Brian was in California surprising his sister for her 29th birthday!) and Bryce arrived about 2:30 AM our time after sitting on the plane here in Detroit after about a 2 hour weather delay (on the CA side).

Lucy was glad to be back home after her weekend in Doggy Daycare and Amanda and I have had a more relaxing time now that the "hurry, gotta do this" of the shower and wedding planning all last week.   I think we have done all we can do for now.  We will just enjoy the last couple of days.  It is what it is.  It was a lot of stress and fun.  So many great memories.

 We have not been able to leave her alone for more than a few minutes.  UGH newborn.  She is a sweetheart and not bothered or barking at other dogs. Delta Dog Day 4

 Beyond belief, we both got to sleep upstairs in our bed all night!  She could not scale the new gate and settled in her crate in the kitchen around 2:00 AM.  Otto gave me the night but after she settled, he came upstairs and she did not bark or whine all night!!!   I came down after a shower, took her outside on her lead and then fed her.  Back upstairs to do my hair etc.  I heard "something" and came downstairs to find that she had opened the pantry (that has a magnet closure on it for dog/children safety) and had a bag of marshmallows on the floor, not opened thank goodness.   I blocked it with a chair but removed anything that she could get to if she opened it again (within her reach).  NOTE:  new plan for pantry.   Later in the day we were sitting outside with her and she picked some cherry tomatoes and ate them (yes I checked on Google that they are NOT poisonous for dogs).  After dinner with friends, she snatched a corncob an...

School's out, teacher let the fools out!

No more pencils, no more books, no more STUDENT'S dirty looks! What a group I had this year, eiy yie yie! I can honestly say if I never see some of that bunch again, it will be too soon. Fun party last night...too tired to sleep! Nice feeling to sleep in. ADK party this afternoon, piano lesson (may have to re-schedule), picking up new car in Ann Arbor and going to Amanda's 2 baseball games. Nice video chat with Andrew & Matt last night. They get so silly! Brian landed safely in L.A. at 2:09 our time. His plane from Philly was delayed over 3 hours. All day to go 5 hours sucks, but he is safe! Congratulations Matthew Sandoval on your middle school graduation. Have fun with your family. I cleaned out 2 filing cabinets of old 4th grade files and old materials we don't use any more.
