Day 103

Today is June 23, 2020 the 2nd day of summer.  It is dark and woke up to rain (and Lucy barking).  We need the rain.  After a flooding spring, it has been hot and dry.  Everything is looking August especially the lawns.  I am painting Amanda's room (2nd day).  Ceiling and patching done yesterday, walls and floor trim today.  Did Matt's room last week, took 3 days with all the trim and chair rail.  Turned out nice and soft.  Used Mineral Green.   Amanda's room is called Cement Pots.  Both are Magnolia Homes pain and it is a dream to work with.  One coat, quickly dries and looks great.

Removed the 30-year-old linoleum from the stairs but had to have our Handy-man steam off the guck left.  Now we will sand and paint a dark grey.   Using non-skid.  I can't stand the thought of carpet or peel & stick tiles.

Removed all the old drapes in the DR & LR.  Ordered white sheers and new rods so after it is painted it will be a new look.  (then furniture!).  Found area rugs that are plain and cream colored.  I will need a sofa, 2 chairs, 2 side table, 1 center table and 3 lamps.  May as well spend that travel money since I can't (or won't) get on a plane until this virus has ended.

Many restrictions have been lifted.  I had my hair cut after 4 mos. last week, the first appointment I could get as the closure lifted.  Nails are this week.  Everyone wears masks and it's just 2 people.

I had a COVID test a week ago and it was negative.  Had to have for a hospital procedure that went fine, also kept mask on the whole time.

It has become easier to get to the stores, long lines are not so long.  Most everyone wears a mask.  When I see someone without I feel like I want to report them to the office!  LOL

Still no bars or restaurants for us!  We may head to Chicago for the 4th.  I miss everyone soooo much.  I will have to mask around the kids (for them and for me) but I think we can manage this.  I am ready to fly but I don't think it is a good idea yet.

So, I am off to paint!  Looks like the rain is stopping, pool time and dog walking to do.  It is what it is but we want it all back to the way it WAS!
