Here's What You Missed On Cranston Street
So, after a long conversation with my insurance carrier, the Valley Dentist as he will be called, was trying to pull some crap with Amanda. It seems that after all she went through for a filling in a cracked sealant, they were trying to make her pay up front. When I called and insisted they bill me they got all snotty and arrogant and tried to belittle me into paying. A few days later, she tried to schedule a follow up that was needed to even up the edges of this filling (after they numbed her, they informed her they only do white fillings and those are 5X a silver filling and insurance won't pay), they told her he would not see her again unless she paid up front and she would be charged for this follow up. He was mad that her mother called while she was there!!! Well I was mad at his arrogance and that he was too worried about missing his lunch appointment and couldn't even up the filling when she was there. After the call to the insurance company, I was informed that Valley Guy is a carrier of my insurance and he is obligated to make things right, see her for follow-ups with no charge, bill her for remainder after insurance has been billed and paid, and not hassle the patients. The insurance volunteered to call Valley Guy and inform him of OUR rights and that her mother, the insurance carrier has EVERY right to call and question practices. Of course Valley Guy office staff backed off and said it was a simple misunderstanding when my insurance informed them of my rights and their obligations to the State Board of Dentistry. About 10 seconds they called Amanda and on her voice mail, sweetly asked her when she would like to make her follow-up appointment. When she called it was an "Oh, right....you....ah...ya...sure" Ha ha ha. Her Aunt suggested that Bryce go in the room with her so she has a witness and Valley Dentist will not be able to be snide or pull anything! When she went on line to file a complaint, he already had several and oh, btw, we both filed a complaint with the BBB. And that is not Bed Bath and Beyond. My next step was the California Board. Glad I called the insurance co. first! It is what it is and it is not always tidy and legal.
