Boston Strong
I have been lucky enough to take another trip during my Spring Break that we thought would NEVER arrive! Friday, I flew to Boston through jetBlue (first time on this airline)...was a wonderful experience. Andrew & Brian picked me up at Logan after some other guy tried to pick me up..or kidnap me I am not sure which! We spent the afternoon walking around the Commons and the Marathon sight at Copley Square and Boylston. Ate lunch at Boloco which is so delicious. Friday night was a relaxing, bread and cheese kind of night. Saturday was an early start to Newport, RI, about an hour and a half away. The day was spent in jaw dropping splendor as we toured the Vanderbilt mansion called the Breakers. Afternoon we did the servant's tour at the Elms, another drop dead gorgeous mansion in Newport. To end the day we did the Cliff Walk along the mansions. On the way home we stopped at Plymouth, Massachusettes, saw the "rock" and The Mayflower.
Sunday morning, Easter we attended thee 10:00 service at Trinity in Copley Square. The service was long but so enjoyable and so traditional. The choir and service and the church made us feel like we were in Europe. So many people came and so many runners! Dinner was leg of lamb, and all the trimmings thanks to Chef Brian. What a yummy delight! Monday was the Boston Marathon. Brian and I felt so special to be a part of the 1 million people and actually be near the finish line to see the mens and women's winners. When the other 36,000 others started to arrive we were mesmerized for several hours just watching. Security was tight but not in the way. Tuesday, everyone had to go back to work so I was on my own. I walked to Copley Square, did a bit of shopping at Crate & Barrel, CVS and bought what I needed to make dinner at Shaw's and carried it all home. While there I stopped in at the Boston Public Library and visited the Boston 2013 Memorial. Very moving. Tonight, I have made Ce Ce's Minestrone with garden salad and fresh bread. It is what it is and right now, it is good!
