Christmas a Day Away

Dark dreary Christmas Eve morning.  Rain, dismal but the lights look great.  Otto is at work, Brian in LA, Bryce, Andrew & Amanda are taking a long winter's nap (not up yet) and Matt, Dana & Hannah never made it from Chicago.  Traffic was so bad last Friday, they turned around and went home!  We opened our Secret Elf gifts via Face Time.  Our Christmas gift exchange is over except for stockings in the morning.  (What Lucy didn't eat of the summer sausage that was wrapped for Otto).  Just ornament exchange and silly candy etc.  Looking forward to Christmas Eve service tonight.  We will re-do another Christmas meal, much like Sundays before Brian left.  What a mixed up holiday!  Grandma even went to Vermont!   Very fun though.  It is nice not to have to be spending this time running crazy and frantic wrapping (we did all that Friday and ALL day Saturday, cooking on Sunday).  It has been a little slower pace.  Hope to play some more Scrabble today or maybe Wizard or Catch Phrase.  I love everything I received including more Pandora charms, a new nutcracker for my collection, Downton Abby DVDs (all four seasons and can't wait for Season 5), a Jim Brickman CD, Apple TV from the guys, a cute Highclere  Castle "servant's bell" ornament, a beautiful hammered copper pot and two dozen Christmas color roses.  It has been a lovely time.  I feel like we should be out getting bargains.  But who has any $$ left??? It is what it is and it has been a wonderful holiday.  The stress of concerts, Festival of Tables, School, ADK hosting and all the other non-fun parts are over for this year.  Not happy that Lucy had a major seizure the night I brought her home from the kennel after she had an unpleasant encounter with another dog as we were leaving.  I am thinking she has stress-connected seizures.  Will try harder to avoid those situations for her.  My brother has been in and out of the hospital mostly connected to his side-effects from the strong chemo he has been on for lung cancer.  He has so much wrong..COPD, high blood pressure, diabetes, and more that he seems to be doing surprisingly good.  Time to get going for the day.  Merry Christmas, enjoy the last couple of days this year!!  I want time to slow down and even freeze in this mode with slower relaxed days, having time to visit with my kids.  (I also want them ALL together!!!)   Miss Matt, Dana, Hannah and Brian!
