Me Day

After hitting perfect attendance yesterday for 1st quarter I had to take today for a Dr. appt. for my hand. The Dr. made me feel like I had wasted her time coming to the infectious disease place even though MY Dr. sent me there after almost 3 weeks of swelling and soreness he was not able to diagnose. She thinks I had a tissue injury, not a bite or break. In other words, she does not know what happened either. So, I let it go, let it heal and go see a hand specialist if it is not better. Meanwhile, back on a z-pack for the sinus infection. It was a beautiful day so after my appointment, I went to walk "the village" only to find it was closed now except for F-S, so I walked the museum and saw new stuff! It is what it is and it was all about ME day!

Saturday stuff

Took Lucy to the vet this morning for HER check up and left a house payment! Spent the day doing errands until I was in the middle of the Costco parking lot when the sky opened up. I was soaked to the point I had to come home and changed. Even my socks and shoes were wet. Have not been home in so many Saturdays and not home next weekend that I booked the whole day out catching up. It is what it is and it was a great day! Yesterday's wedding was absolutely amazing. Beautiful bride and family. The reception was the absolute "end". Every detail was perfection! Thanks to my amazing piano teacher and her family.

Home Again Home Again, Jiggity Jig!

After flying all day Monday,  Delta delivered and I was pretty glad to see wheels down in the D.  The flights were all amazing, the weather was bright blue sky and I windowed it all the way home with a 4 hour layover in Minneapolis, one book down and many photos.  lt turned out to be a late night (East Coast time), but  I was finally able to sleep about midnight because the next 3 days were spent in math class. I have been to the Dermatologist, the dentist (for regular check and the root canal filling), physical, flu shot, blood draw and EKG.   Ready to tackle the year. The Dr. told me I was in pretty good shape for my age.   What the hell does that mean????   He usually comes in the back door with comments. Looking forward to some sleep tonight but feel pretty caught up on the "jet lag"  and time adjustment.  First day in class I about dropped off several times! Monday is our first day  BTS and we have 3 days of PD.  Have not...

Atlantic to Pacific...Coast to Coast

So, after I wrote this a couple of days ago, I accidentally deleted the entire post and am calmed down enough to start again! A week ago today I left Boston after spending a week with Brian & Andrew doing what we do best.  Walking, eating, cooking, eating seafood, watching a lot of tv (Olympics), laughing, staying up late and just enjoying the week. Our favorite activity is our trip to Ogunquit, Maine, on the Atlantic Ocean.   We ate our lobster rolls (sans Andrew who is allergic) , spent the whole afternoon just sitting on the beach watching the tide roll in and roll out, snacking and sharing stories.  All too soon it was time to go back to Boston.  We spent the evening checking out homes for sale by the ocean, (on tv).   I did lots of walking, through the parks, neighborhoods, took the T to Cambridge, had long lunches with Andrew (Chicken & Rice Guys), and Brian in Cambridge.  I shopped locally, hit the farmer's market for produce, Brian made l...

August ....wait, what?

Oh what a week or turmoil.   Started the month with an emergency root canal on Monday.   Could not have been worse!   Over an hour on this one and had a bbq to attend so all I could do was drink some wine and take Motrin.  Tuesday was a little better because I had my peeps here for lunch and continued with the Motrin 800.  Wednesday, my face started to swell in the lymph nodes of my jaw line so I had to go on an anti-biotic.   First math class of the summer and spent two days with a miserable mouth.  It felt like my tooth was too big for my mouth.  Today, the jaw swelling started again so back to the Endodontist I went!   Seems that the infection "falls" into the lymph nodes and it takes a few days to settle down.   Math class is over, I have lunch with friends tomorrow and fly day on Saturday...Boston here I come!   Andrew and Brian and me (is it me or I???) are going to Ogunquit on Sunday for our summer lobster rolls and beach fix...

"oh stormy, bring back that sunny day"

With Otto gone all week, I tackled projects and cleaning and got a lot done but also a bit bored!   It was nice to get a call from Andrew this morning that their flight to Madison with a  layover in Detroit had been missed due to maintenance in Boston and they had a few hours to kill so guess where I spent lunch?   It was so nice to see Brian and Andrew!   I am ready to book my late summer Boston trip to spend some time together.  Well, after quite an ordeal at DTW they were finally on their way and about the time they landed in Madison, Otto landed in Detroit.   They both totally missed a major storm from this afternoon!   It has been a week of sun and perfect Michigan days until this afternoon. In the 90's and tomorrow may hit 100.  More storms on their way.   Plenty to keep me busy here with the basement to clean, painting to do and a couple of projects yet to do.   Am catching up on my "shows" in the evening and staying up way too la...

Hot Town Summer in the City

Well, I have completely cleaned my house upstairs and downstairs.   The only thing left is the refrigerator.   Now it is time to do my annual dr. appt like contact lens, dermatologist and all that stuff.  Foot Dr. tomorrow....double ugh! Been home almost a month now but so busy between cleaning, shopping and having everyone here for the 4th I have not had time to be bored until today. Am trying to do over 10,000 steps a day and walk the dog twice.  Was a very hot walk this morning but every day this week, I have been able to be in the pool with 90+ degrees.   Many small projects completed except the basement cleaning.  It is ALWAYS the basement. I am not sure what I would do in retirement.  I can only read and clean so much.  Once everything is caught up I am not sure about this!  There is a storm looming and Otto is out tonight so I am sitting here, not even able to take Lucy out for a walk.  Ready to travel again or have another p...

End of May...already

Where the heck did May go?   Only yesterday it was May 1st and about 6 hours ago I told my classes that we were half way thru May and today it is over.  12 days of school left.   Will finish this later.  Never finished it and now it is July 13th and I just wrote a new blog.   Will teach me to not leave blogs hanging....it is what it is!

May Day May Day!

A week ago today I flew in to Boston for lunch with my oldest son Andrew.   Of course I took some personal days and sick days to complete the trip (mental health days )  I absolutely love Boston and enjoyed every second with my guys!   So much packed into a week.  We did lunch at The Salty Pig, walked and drove around.  Did the Bunker Hill monument and the museum in a beautiful area of Boston, walked around Copley Square and was wined and dined at The Boston Chop House.   Andrew's 34th birthday.   Faceted with the family. Thursday I took the T to Cambridge and met Brian for lunch.  We walked around MIT and after he went back to work, I took the T to Harvard Square.   What a gorgeous day!   Walked around Harvard and nearby parks.   We met near the Commons and walked home through all the beautifulness of The Boston Gardens and Commons and stopped for many photos of the tulips and spring. Thursday night we cooked a Ree Drummond reci...

Piano Recital

Home from piano recital. Glad it is over but happy that I did ok in my 6th recital. It has been 7 years of lessons since Amanda graduated from high school almost 8 years ago. We have been involved as a family for 25 years with Mona. Does not get any easier and yes, I was the oldest one playing. Would love that concert grand in MY house. Snow/rain all day. Dark and dreary. Happy that I made chicken noodle soup on Friday night while waiting for Otto to come home from Minneapolis. I was too sick to eat it and he was too tired (after 10:00) so wallah...instant Sunday dinner!!!!! It is what it is. Andrew is in Chicago with Matt, Dana and Hannah, Brian is in LA for work and visit his family, Otto and I are both home, i have a sinus infection under control with cortisone and anti-biotics, Lucy moping as she is stuck inside with the rain and snow and Sunday is almost over. 2 1/2 weeks to Boston!

The Ides of March

Image
Choose a file to upload Feeling Thankful. Arrived home from school, went to take my watch and bracelets off and noticed my tennis bracelet missing. I had stopped at a couple stores on the way home and didn't know where to start so I phoned and left my name etc. I knew it was too late to call school or go back so I said a prayer and got Lucy ready for her daily walk. I had emptied my purse, schoolbag and checked my car only to find nothing. In the middle of the garage under the area where Otto usually parks I found my bracelet. I nearly fainted. I have had this for nearly 25 years and with minor repairs and yearly insurance have a lot of history behind this bracelet. Otto gave me the bracelet on our 20th Anniversary. I could write a chapter on all of the bracelet's escapades! I lost it a Meijer when it caught on the cart and some sweet woman turned it in, I lost it at Plymouth Fall Festival and someone turned it in to the police! I have...

Spring Ahead

Time change...already?   Takes so long to change ALL the clocks and watches.  It will mean the days are longer and more outdoor/dog walking time.   Busy sending out my Easter cards and cards for March.   Washed my car from stem to stern today.  First time since about October or November.  I could not stand the filth any longer.   The car wash is fine for freezing cold weather but they never really get it clean like me.  Got most of the paint off the bumper where I slid into the white mini-van taxi that probably had no license or insurance and no tail lights and I think the mini gap in the bumper can be popped back into place.  Not as bad as I thought the damage was going to be.   It was so dirty it was hard to tell.   Still some damage to the bumper where I hit a large umbrella on the highway last fall on a very windy day.   There it was in the left lane as I was going 70mph and no where to go.  Hopefully when I turn this ...

SNOW DAY!!!

My blogs are getting fewer and further apart.  Just don't have much time to write anymore.  A welcomed snow day since February is nearing the end and so will our chances of winter weather.  Spent the day reading the paper on the same day it came!   Also did catch up on schoolwork, got my tires switched, took Lucy back to the vet for a sore paw that was making her limp.  Just took her Monday for a check-up and a vaccination.  That was an expensive week for Lucy!.  Spent Valentine's Day in Chicago with Hannah who is growing like a weed. Always seem to have so much to do.   It is what it is, and this year is flying by.  Between bronchitis and now a cold, we are all sick of winter!

USPS

Amanda's post -Christmas package of everything they could not stuff into 2 suitcases after a week here and 5 days in Phoenix, finally arrived yesterday.  It was mailed USPS on December 31st as UPS was closed.  I paid 45.00 for a box that must have been on a truck loaded on a buggy pulled by a horse that swam through the Panama Canal.  Did you know a tracking number is no good when a package is on a truck?  I had no tracking information from 12-31-15 until 1-17-16?  Shame on you USPS!     In addition, when I called the Livonia office, I was left on hold twice for the better part of 30 minutes, called back to a busy signal 9 times, called California post offices only to be told in Spanish I had numbers not in service (off their websites) and was treated very rudely both on the phone and in the office.  This is a federal service that our taxes pay for.  Sure think we deserve better service.  It is what it is and it is terrible service

What do you mean it is January?

I feel so guilty that I never got to write anything for December.  First month since I started this blog about a zillion years ago.   I am feeling so grateful tonight.   I am grateful that it is Friday and I made it through a whole week after 2 off.  My middle schoolers were crazy this week.  Worse than normal due to testing and different scheduling.  I hope.  I am happy that my Christmas decorations are 1/2 put away.   All the upstairs, bathrooms, kitchen and living room are packed away.   The big living room tree and village comes down tomorrow and hopefully the family room on Sunday.  I packed a lot of stuff tonight but put a lot in the dining room to pack but gave up.  I am beat!  Hard to believe only two weeks ago was Christmas and everyone was here.  It was such a good time.  I laughed until I cried.  I washed towels, bought food, cooked food, put food away, loaded the dishwasher, unloaded it (about 2 times...
