Christmas Day 2009

Merry Christmas everyone! Dreary rainy day. Suppose to stay rain. Hope the ice that is there melts. Matt & Dana driving from Chicago after work. 3:00 their time I think. I would love to talk everyone into waiting to open gifts and eat our big meal when they get here! It's 10:00 and Casey and I are the only ones up! Perfect Christmas Eve. Church was beautiful between the decorations, the lights, the choir was superb, the service with candlelight was awesome and driving to Sue & Tom's to see their "new" house in Grosse Pte. was just great. What a beautiful home! Hard to believe those homes were built in the 40's. They take such good care of them and what a lovely neighborhood. Now she wants us to move there!!! LOL Well it would be closer to work.....hmmmmmm..just kidding! Watching the Christmas Story, listening to Ellen and Josh Grobin is on the radio. Who says we can't multi-task??? Can't believe that Ralphy is in Four Christmases!...
Merry Christmas Eve!!!! Happy to have chipped tooth fixed! Getting ready to go to church at 8:00. Shopping done, wrapping done...hoping ice storm not too bad to keep Matt form coming here in Chicago. Going to party after church with one of my bff's in Grosse Pointe, east side. Watching White Christmas on AMC. Does not get any better than this! :) Took KC to vet today. She has a major ear infection but in good health otherwise. Her Dr., Dr. Crisp is puzzled to her seizers and thinks either cold weather or separation is causing. Anything further and we may have to medicate her. Bought baby gate to keep her off stairs in case it happens again. She loves sitting on the stair landing and there is not much room there. Ok, off to Granny's for her polish/hungarian food fest (me, I'd rather have a chicken salad!) It is what it is.

Two Blogs in One Day????????????

Matt & Dana won't be home until Christmas Day Eve but it will be very fun (is that acceptable to say?) when they arrive. We will be having an Apples to Apples tournament. What a fun day!!! It all comes so fast but with so many things to do it never seems to be enough time. My niece got married today and I was not able to be there for the ceremony or the dinner at my brother's house which makes me sad, but it is just such a busy and overwhelming time of the year. Best wishes to her!!! Hope to see her soon! Want to do everything and see everyone! Had piano lesson today and "Farewell to Ireland" is progressing...after almost a year in the works... working up to recital in March!

Oh What a Night!

Christmas Eve to Christmas Eve! Oh what a day! On the heels of Casey's seizures, she seems to be holding her own. We bought a baby gate to keep her off the stairs when we are not home so she won't sit on the landing and hurt herself if it happens again. That is where the 1st one Saturday happened. Vet date tomorrow. Andrew & Brian on way near Cleveland, thank goodness the snowstorm of last week was last week! Over 18 inches on Sunday in D.C. Been shopping, wrapping, cooking, baking and Julia Child would be proud, I buttered my angel food cake pan before putting Rachel Ray's fudge in! Also made Peanut Butter bars with butter not margarine and they were the best ever! Amanda went to get a touch up on her recent tattoo and her car died. It sprung a leak in the part that hold the coolant for the engine or something like that. It was overheating and she at least made it to a gas station and then we had to have it towed here. Oh what a night! It is what it is!!

Countdown to Christmas

ok it is 15 days till Christmas and I am feeling challenged! Doing better but added an extra hour without sleep at the end of the day. Took 1/2 day to get ready for formal Christmas party with Otto's company tonight. He is wearing a tux! Nails and hair done! Wearing long sparkly dress with silver sandals and it is about 12 degrees. Some days I hate Michigan weather. unseasonable cold for sure. Tonight's gonna be a good night........it is what it is
Whew! Everyone went home, the house got cleaned and it is time to decorate! I have been busy every night and wonder when...cards are almost out, we have students tomorrow, Eid is over and 2 days of in-service is finished. Hated to see everyone go home...it was soooo much fun. Amanda left Monday night and will be home in 2 weeks! Off to bells tonight getting ready for next concert on Sunday the 2oth, 2 at church and 1 at Clarenceville High school with Livonia Civic Chorus. It has been raining and getting cold. Hope the outdoor stuff gets done before the snow hits. Cut the tree on Sunday and idiot that I am dropped my debit card when I pulled out my license to ID my check. Thank God for honest people. The tree farm people found it and called the bank who called me. Poor guy spent an hour on the phone thru the bank menu and convincing the bank he had found the card. I am so sorry that I am such a dummy! Went to outlet stores with Amanda on Monday and had to write checks!!! LO...

Four Days of Turkey!

Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. Gosh I haven't had so much fun in forever. We laughed harder than I have laughed in ages. It has been so much fun having the kids home. We played Apples to Apples for 4 hours Friday night and Uno Attack last night until we were falling asleep! Today we went mid-state for our annual tree cutting! We have shopped, eaten, dragged decorations out, taken our annual photo, done laundry, fried a turkey (all safe & sound) eaten the whole turkey, washed so many dishes we ran out of hot water and just had a very full 4 days. Can't wait to do it again at Christmas! With kids, it is what it is!
Oh gosh, 2 days until Turkey Day. I haven't blogged in a couple weeks and my intent was to blog daily.. This year has overwhelmed me I am hating my kids periodically. They are so out of line and have no behavior!!! More later. Amanda in air flying home right now so I have to get to Metro to pick her up. I can't wait to see her. Miss her so much

Better Day!

Wish I had thought to separate the sheep from the goats a long time ago. My Chemistry teacher use to say that and I never knew what it meant. Now I know. It was way better today. Happy Birthday Brian!!!! Love you!!! Bells tonight and too late to practice the piano for lesson tomorrow, will try and practice double after my 5th grade math meeting tomorrow after school. I may be getting a part time para pro! whoooo hooooo! Can you imagine, a parent threatened to take her daughter out and put her in a charter school if she got one more stupid referral for rule breaking. What message does that send????? it is truly is what it is

Election Day 2009

It has been more than a week since I blogged and I had good intentions for a daily blog. Man life gets busy and I am happy if I make it to the couch for a nap before bed! Watching Desperate Housewives tonight as I fell asleep during Sunday's episode! Fell asleep at Trivia Pursuit at the neighbors on Friday night. My class is wearing me out! Halloween wore me out, the MEAP wore me out, the full moon wears me out, I worked the election tonight handing out flyers in the cold and I am ....worn out! It is what it is....20 days until Amanda, Matt and Andrew and Brian come home!!! Thanksgiving will probably.....wear me out!!! I love writing but it wears me out LOL

RAIN RAIN GO AWAY!

We were in the middle of Mt. Vernon when the rain started. Sprinkles at first and thank goodness we made it to the welcome center cause guess where the umbrellas were? Finally back to the car and it poured! For a long time too. What a beautiful dark colorful warm (73 degrees) fall day. I found out more about George Washington today than I ever knew but it was all very interesting and old. Very cool trivia stuff and scenery. Guys watching football and I am reading magazines and catalogs and getting very sleepy at 8:00 pm. It is what it is!

From the Capitol....

Slept until almost 9:00. Had a hard time sleeping so I ended up on the couch. Took a long time to get back to sleep. There is a reason they call it ouch with a c! It is cloudy and darkish. Can't tell if it is raining. Spent yesterday on the mall. Took the metro in after walking to the bank to get $ due to "lost" debit card. Spent an hour or so at the American History museum. Julia Child's kitchen was crowded! Walked to the Air & Space and had a $12.00 lunch! Then to the Natural History Museum where we spent the rest of the day. I love looking at the rocks, gems, baubles etc. Also the stuffed animals are cool. You get to see real things you would never otherwise see except on tv or photos. Around 5:00 we walked back to a very crowded metro and were back here by 6:00. Poor Andrew had driven to Baltimore for the day and had to fight Friday rush hour. It was late when we walked to the restaurant "VAPIANO" . It was crowded! Today we talked a...

The Day from Hell!

I have to write this down. The day started normal. By early afternoon, one of my students threw up and the room reeked the rest of the day even though I was burning a pumpkin spice candle. Then I found out the teacher next to me was taken to the hospital by EMS as she was disoriented and had a fever of 104 and didn't know what was going on! After school we had to get the meap tests ready for tomorrow, raced to the ADK dinner in Clawson which was nice but at $3.00 a coke after paying 18.00 for a whitefish dinner, felt the coke charge was unnecessary. It wasn't that nice. Had to race out of there, took an hour to drive home thru the traffic and hit every light from the east side (GPS took me non-highway), changed and off to bell rehearsal. I didn't get home until 9:30 and still have to pack. I am so glad to be leaving as soon as the Science/Social Studies MEAP is done at lunchtime. I am going to kick some Z butt if he is gone another day like today. I sit on the oth...

MEAP Tuesday

Haven't blogged in a couple days. Nails done, car washed, package mailed, still working on Study Island to make it more user friendly to all. (A meap based program that students can work on to play games, answer questions etc.) Had a parent argue with me that the one way parking lot to our school did not have a sign posting it as a one-way staff parking lot. DUH. How f-ing stupid can you be when all the cars are parked one way and it is connected to our school and gated until 3;00 every day!!!! They get stupider with each passing year, but like my boss says, " don't get into a fight with a skunk because you will lose". I tried to tell her she is putting our children in danger, roaring backwards thru the parking lot. It is what it is!

Saturday, Saturday!

Saturday has such a magical ring to it! Slept in after good Friday night, got all my shopping and errands done and outdoor work too. Took KC for a walk. Happy to be home tonight burning a candle (scented), ready for Halloween and having our first fire of the season in the fireplace. Washed windows probably for the last time this year. Likin' haircut, ready for Halloween, package mailin' to the girls in Phoenix and feelin' caught up for the first time this fall. Ready to head down to D.C. next Thurs. No more snow in Pennsylvania for next week please!!!! Watchin' Grey's. It is what it is and I actually heard a mom say this to her kid today in a store!!!!

Day is Done......

It is getting darker earlier daily. Things better with Christopher. Better day at school. He has been my struggle (with several others too). Days go so fast. I am looking forward to our trip to Washington next week and can't believe it has been 4 weeks since I was "tanning" and everyone was home for the wedding. Halloween will fly by and then Thanksgiving and everyone will be home again yeeeaaahhh! Ok, better change and get ready for bell choir rehearsal. Busy weekend and it's time to get out the Festival of Tables plans for December!! It is what it is!

MEAP madness

One day of testing down. Cold is settled in. Can't breathe! It is cold out and I have a couple evening things to do. Not going to Bible Study. Otto has been gone since yesterday to a Grand Rapids food show and will be home in an hour or so. I have to stop running all the time. When do I get free time? I think I need to stay home tonight and not spread any more germs than I have to! Flu shot doesn't stop a cold. I made it 5 weeks into school. 6:00 and time to turn on lights! What will it be like after daylight savings ends? It is what it is!

Kalamazoo Direct to YOU!

Ok so I posted today and yesterday on West Lake. Where have the years gone? It seems like yesterday when we sold the cottage and moved here, said goodbye to Barbara (who is now 86) and strapped Andrew in the front seat and Nikki our German Shepherd in the back and drove off with the promise to visit regularly. Ok our cottage is gone, a $400.000 house sits on the same lot and we don't know anyone there except Barbara. So many changes but the lake, the drive, the fall changes look the same. I miss it so. I miss so much and I missed so much. No do overs, just lots of memories! It is what it is. Thank you for missing my blot entries. I always wanted to be a writer. A columnist! It is what it is. Off to try to save the day again tomorrow!

Kalamazoo

Off to see Barbara and Carole in Kalamazoo. Former neighbors. Hope to have enough time to drive around a bit...maybe at Western and KVCC. A lot of years have passed. Beautiful day but cold. Poor KC has to stay alone. She does not like that! School work is done for the weekend. Still taking computer to do a couple things in car. Got out the cards I bought last Dec. and will start signing. Also time for the big letter. Ok off to the shower. Sundays go fast. Hope someone will go to the Henry Ford with me to see the Lego Castles display. More up my alley than Rock Stars & Guitars. Also want to go to the Halloween nights in the village. Oh and the Harry Potter display over the holidays in Chicago. I think it is at the Science & Industry Museum. Still beautiful out! It is what it is!

Saturday September 5, 2009

buzee day. Trying to do way too much....go figure. I have lovely nails and did many errands today. Can't believe Christmas stuff in stores when Halloween is a month away. Developed a sore throat today..gee made it to the 5th week of school. Beautiful fall day: sunny but cool all day.. getting a cold front tonight with frost expected. Stop! I want my summer daze back! LOL It is what it is.

The week from hell

How does it keep getting worse? My kids are awful this year. No respect, they just don't give a damn. I try way too hard teaching a split. They just won't cooperate. I don't know what to do. This restorative justice crap is the pits. Referrals and suspensions aren't working. Any ideas? Amanda is sick with strep. One of my student's lost their home in an electrical fire this week and we are doing what we can to help. MEAP next week....can't wait. I got a new student today. 11 and never been to school. Just got off the boat. Zero English. Probably will have to take the MEAP though. He was in the 3rd grade in Bangladesh. (I had a translator) and they put him in the 5th grade and he sits there all day. Doesn't that make sense? And they are cutting us 165.00 per student. I have 28 students in a split. Most of them can't read worth a damn. They are at least a year or two behind due to lack of English and yet they have to take the MEAP an...
Tiger's game and a real nail biter. Room almost done 5 weeks into the year. Stayed until almost 6. 4 out today......nice quiet workable day :) One of my former student's house burned down today. I have her sister and had a brother. Wish there was something we could do to help. There must be something......it is what it is. No Mustang Monday yet!

Monday Monday

Finally home for the night. Worship committee short, the talkers were absent! Busy at school, tomorrow I need to start my class again. 4 suspensions for bad behavior on Friday when I was absent. The sub today was a body breathing. That is the new requirement to be a sub. She expected me to stay and help her and called the principal when the kids told her they had nothing to do. I had given them their work for the day/week and she listened to them. Then she had smooth jazz playing and the room was all dark and I don't know what planet she was visiting from but we blocked her so she will never be visiting Holbrook again. What a loser. It is what it is but never will be from her again! Where do they find these negatives?

Pool is closed!

oh crap oh crap! The pool is officially closed. Matt & Otto took the level down and the cover is on. Only 2 weeks ago I was still tanning and floating. Now it is Oct. (forget the frickin heater) and cold, rainy and a full moon and I am so crappin' busy for school that weekends are trying to catch up. I am glad Matt came home to help me out of my funk! Gosh, I can barely squeeze into my jeans and khakis I had too many margaritas and not enough exercise. I will not give up and buy bigger pants ever. Spent the week doing school work and getting out the fall and Halloween decorations. It seems like we just opened the pool and put the yard junk out. You know what sucks? We went to the Spree appreciation dinner last night and danced the night away but I could barely walk this morning. Think I blew out a him flexor! Fall is here. Windows are closed, air and fans are off and the potpourri burner is on 24/7. I was out 2 days this week. Accomplished much but feel bad t...

shitballs

Ok , I am so sorry that the week has passed me by and there has been so much going on my head is spinning! I finally got a chance to teach this week for 3 days until I was pulled for school improvement committee this morning. I had to start over! My kids told the restorative justice teacher that "she is never here" How sad. I am out tomorrow for more school stuff and Monday to work on a report for the state. I have never been so torn. This is sooooo hard. I am behind in everything, my room is a mess after 4 weeks, we have the MEAP in 2 weeks and I am so ready to take some time off. The longer I teach, the harder it is getting and then......I was asked to be on the district school improvement team. I don't know whether to be flattered or flip-out. How much can one person do? When will I experience the empty nest syndrome? Gosh, I can barely keep up with lesson plans. My dog misses me! Help!!! I did say no to a weekend in Ft. Wayne for a handbell festival s...

Dreary Saturday!

Well, I guess it makes more accept fall all the more! It will be in the 60's and getting cooler thru next week. I can't believe how blessed we were with the perfect weather all 3 days of the wedding festivities last weekend. At least it will cool off in the school building soon. 103 in Arizona today so they are "cooling" off there too! Some errands to do (flu shot at Target?), and our first fall neighborhood Trivia group tonight. Many of the wedding flowers still look nice. Too bad I couldn't get them to Hospice with all their construction going on but we gave some away and others have enjoyed them too. The yard still looks gorgeous. It will be time to bring in all the houseplants soon and i never know where they will all go! All those geraniums go to school and my room is already packed. So much to do both at school and home. One Day at a Time...one thing at a time...it is what it is.

TGIF

Why did Friday come more quickly when it was summer? Time goes soooo fast. A week already since everyone was here and rehearsal dinner. Talked to Andrew tonight and he and Brian were officially married in Cape Cod this morning. He said it took all of 10 minutes!! They were flying back to Arlington tonight and are safely home. I am missing everyone. Went to a really good writing workshop all day today. Putting up fall decorations, I guess I can't fight it any longer! Haven't been in the pool for a week now. I think it might be officially OVER!!! HA! It is noticeably cooler in the morning and in the evening. Oh well, a week from today is October! It is what it is.

How did it get to be Thursday?

Ok, ok so I have been lax! It has been a whale of a week and I haven't blogged since Monday! This is now Thursday. My 6th graders are driving me friggin nuts! They won't stop talking and fooling around. Finally feel like I am getting a handle on being back at school. Out tomorrow for a writing workshop at Rock Financial Showplace....I feel so important. I had a dermatologist appt. today and had to scoot out the door after school and one of my 5th graders said..."Oh we didn't realize you were sick!" True! Started science today and spent 2 days catching up from being gone. Where does the time go? Piano lesson tonight and it was dark by 7:30 ugh! It is what it is!

Back to school

The newleyweds are in Boston, probably by Cape Cod now. In-service today: "anybody?" So many things to get done and so little time! Working on a computer program for the students tomorrow. It may be nice to really get started with my class! Ok, off to work...around the house that is! It is what it is!

Boy oh boy

Back to reality tomorrow, early wake-up and workshop due to Eid. I don't know where to start on the most incredible wedding I have ever been to. The support was incredible. It has been a lot of work and a lot of prep time but every second was worth it. I am sorry everyone had to leave soo soon! I spent the day just catching up. It started out dark and rainy and so did I feeling it would never get better! But lots of work and business chases the blues away. So many thoughts and feelings. The guys are almost home, a few more hours. Can't wait to be together again. About 70 + days until Thanksgiving. Love it all....love you guys all! Footnote, old people need to be tested or get off the road! It is what it is!!!

Countdown to wedding

Too much to say so I won't say anything. Why do we have storybook ideals about everything? The dog is happy to have so many people around!!!!!! So much left to do for Brian & Andrew's wedding tomorrow. Guess I better get busy. Weather is perfect. Still never lost that 30 lbs. It is what it is!

2/3 are home

Only Matt & Dana to come home yet. Andrew & Brian arrived first about 6:30. Highway work slowed them down a bit. Amanda's plane was changed, seat changed, an hour late and when they finally boarded, taxied to take off, the pilot announced there was a crack in the windshield and the defroster wasn't working so they returned to the gate to wait (better safe for sure). She was nearly 2 hours late but arrived safely and that is what is important. Planned for what to do today and everyone was just worn out! Still a lot of ground to cover (both work and wedding) Shopping, piano lesson etc. Off to fun. It is quite chilly this morning (high 40's). Fall is imminent.....it is what it is
Science in-service all day at RESA. Good one! Now if I can ever get to my classroom ( I work one day this week and one day next) I can implement some of this good stuff. BEAU-tiful day but they are getting shorter and supposed to cool off tomorrow. Looks like Brian & Andrew will have the fall wedding they wanted on Sat.!!!! Otto leaving for food show tonight....me and Casey. Amanda flies in tomorrow and A & B home also. Matt & Dana Thursday!!!! Guess I don't have to do my blog tonight....I just did it! Ha Ha I feel so cool now that I know how to copy and paste and my post was about 100 characters too long. I have to do lesson plans tonight (talk about cut and paste) and a homework policy for the open house that I won't be there for on Friday. It is what it is!!!!

Science Center Monday

What a day! The building only had one or two teachers today, everyone was out for an in-service and we took the 5th grades to a "Meap me" workshop at the Science Ctr. in Detroit. The bus was an hour late and we learned that they never received our order! We had 40 5th graders and only 2 teachers with no other help. These are still 4th graders, have not learned to listen, behave, not run, shout, scream and act like wild monkeys. We have our work cut out for us this year! They were not ready for a field trip! Then I had a math meeting and then worship committee. At least I got a few minutes in the pool before the pool was out of the sun. Relaxing!!!! I am ready to scream they are so out of control! Tomorrow I am out all day for a science workshop for our new Foss kits and back Wed., then out Thurs & Fri. for the wedding! Next week is Eid on Monday & Tuesday (I'm out Monday still) and we have workshops, then I have Study Island in-service on Wed and a Wri...
Geeze Louieze.....the weekend is already over. I spent Saturday at my first piano lesson of the season and running errands and Otto & I went to an awesome old car show at Greenfield Village. So many people, so many cars. They were old......beginnings to about 1940. Today was spent doing Sunday stuff. Pool both days. Hard to believe it is mid-September, the days have been 70-80's and the pool is heated to about 80. The flowers and yard look so nice. I could live like this year round. Big week coming. I have a field trip to the Science Ctr. in Detroit tomorrow for my 5th graders, A science workshop Tuesday at RESA, normal day on Wed and off for the Wedding on Thursday and Friday. Lexi got to AZ safe yesterday, Amanda, Brian & Andrew all come home on Wednesday, Matt & Dana on Thursday and we go from there! I feel confident that all is ready, I have my 6th grade math meeting Monday night, then Worship Committee, and Wed. is ADK, picking Amanda up from the airpo...

The first week is OVER!

Amanda is ready to start a blog with me giving her perspective on much of the same as my perspective. I can only hope that this year is not as difficult and active as last! I will comment on all of that sometime! My 6th graders are worse than my 5th. I am ready to line them up and smack them! I really need to lay down the law since I had them all last year in 5th, they seem to think they are king shit here. I am exhausted today and it didn't help that I overslept by 1/2 hour this morning which I almost NEVER do! There is still so much more to do and I am out with the 5th on Monday to the Science Center for a MEAP prep workshop. Well, the 6th graders can just do seat work and see how they like that! Then Tues, I am out for the entire day for a Science workshop, there Wed. and Thurs & Fri out for THE WEDDING!!! Hmmm....I need a margarita because, it is what it is!

9-10-09

weird date after yesterday!!!! Writing workshop on the 3rd day of school.....good day but busy. After workshop it was a real quick lunch and afternoon. Started MEAP review and then off to another school for our grade level math meeting. Piano cancelled and I have no idea where the evening went. Email, phone calls, treadmill, dark and I still haven't read the paper and Grey's Anatomy is already on! It is what it is!

2nd day of school

Quick post on 09-09-09 I am up to 27 in my split. 31 on list. Trying to fill the time with the week with so much to do but can't really start routine work yet. I am out for a writing workshop on the 3rd day....great planning to have a sub on the 3rd day of school. It was muggy and warm today but not too bad. Fall is coming quickly and it is getting dark earlier every day. Home late due to staff meeting and went to funeral home as Lexi's grandmother died on Sunday. Lexi flew home again today, 2 days after returning to Phoenix after being here to see her grandmother on the weekend. Her family was there and although it was nice to see everyone, the circumstances were hard. To top matters off, her dog died on Tuesday! We were all in Phoenix together only 2 weeks ago when they got the news that grandma was not doing well. Poor Lexi has more mileage in the last week than her whole life! It is what it is!
This is not going to be easy to keep up as I have gone back to school. Today is the 1st day of my 10th year in Hamtramck Michigan public school. I teach a 5/6 split and have 30 on my list. I had 24 show today with another coming about 1:30. Had a Dr. appt. Didn't you have ALL summer? No mind, it went fast with all the rules, paperwork, books, lockers, you name it, we did it. I was awake at 5, left the house by 6:30, endured the rain and humidity all day, have very tired feet (1st time not barefoot and in shorts in a long time) and am just plain worn out. Man, I am getting too old for all this. Those stairs are killers (someone said there are 48 from the basement) until you get used to them again. And those kids can talk! First rule.....English only. I can't understand Arabic and who know what they are calling me! LOL Overall good class, we will do miracles and work wonders this year..as always is the optimistic attitude on day one. On another note, poor Lexi has ...

Amanda is in the trailer! 9/7/09

After watching the trailer for "Youth in Revolt" coming out this fall, Amanda discovered that she is in the trailer at 1 minute 9 seconds. We are able to pause it and actually see her walking out of the shot to the far right. You can spot her long blonde pony tail, white shirt and skirt. She was in several scenes as an extra when it was shot a year and a half ago! How fun! Can't wait to see this bad boy! It is what it is!

Labor Day 2009 September 7th

Last day to sleep in for awhile! I have to say it...wasn't it just Memorial Day? I knew this would happen! Filled the hummingbird feeder for the umteenth time this summer in hopes of spotting just one bird. Spilled it on the patio, had to hose it down and Casey so she wouldn't drink it! While I was putting it away, I emptied the egg carton to the egg holder, spotted a broken egg and guess what I had for breakfast? Yesterday at Thornapple Lake was the best. The weather was great and we had a nice visit with Dave, Doris, Annette, Michael and their camping friends. On the way back from our cruise, we stopped at Charleton Park which is a park filled with historic buildings, a school, church etc. from Barry County. We had the place to ourselves and many of the buildings were open for us to explore. When we boarded the pontoon, Dave discovered the steering wheel cable was no longer attached and Dave & Otto had to paddle the rest of the way back. Good thing it wasn...

Sunday September 6, 2009

Quiet and cool morning. Hope it warms up a little. Looking forward to seeing my brother Dave and his family, niece Annette, nephew Mike, and Dave's girlfriend Doris. Hope we go for a boat cruise around the lake, I love that. Hate leaving itchy and scratchy home, even after a bath yesterday that dog is driving me crazy with her scratching. She is on more allergy medicine than I am. Guess she came to the right family to live! Gave the Honda a wash yesterday, I have leased it now for 2 1/2 years and this is the first time I have ever washed it by hand. The wheels were bad and the car wash doesn't get those clean. Now I can't drive it much because I am getting close to the end of the miles. Next car....bigger miles! It is what it is.

Saturday September 5, 2009

oh geeze here it is Saturday night of Labor Day weekend. I am making pasta salad and brownies to go to my brother's place at the lake tomorrow and spend some time with him at the lake. I just took Casey for a walk in the full moon (light) and could see Mars. Our neighborhood is one with carriage lights in the yard and no street lights. Thank goodness our sidewalks were all replaced and leveled last year so it is easy to walk in the dark. What is with our street being dug up in the middle of the 2 blocks is beyond my comprehension! Casey didn't even see the rabbit hopping across our path, surprise since she had squirrel for lunch last week. Euwww! Anyway, I was watching the planes over head going into their landing patterns and marveling at the engineering of flight. I will never tire of watching them land or take off. While I was out doing errands today, I was at the deli and ran into a very rude employee of a major chain store in Michigan. God, who do they think t...
Today is Saturday September 5th (already). I can't believe how easy it has been to sleep in! But then staying up late to watch Rosanne and Home Improvement re-runs makes one tired! I am looking forward to the new school year but will miss the sleeping in. A classroom full of 5th and 6th graders can wear you out. I already have 30 on my class list. Well I guess it's time to enjoy the Labor Day weekend and put school on hold for a couple of days. I just realized 24 years ago today was my mother's funeral. I sure am missing the kids this weekend even though Brian and Andrew were home last weekend. This is our first Labor Day weekend home with just us! Everyone will be here in 2 weeks for the big wedding. Hard to believe summer is nearly over. The yard looks so nice. The pool is cold already even though the days are warm and sunny. Just hope it doesn't turn 90 once school starts! Well, it is what it is.
Took Casey for some bloodwork today for her allergies and it cost nearly $100.00. Boy am I in the wrong business! Then while I was taking her for her walk she decided to let loose right in front of the school. Boy are those kids going to be surprised on the first day! I forgot my baggie! OOOPS. It is what it is.
