Labor Day 2009 September 7th

Last day to sleep in for awhile! I have to say it...wasn't it just Memorial Day? I knew this would happen! Filled the hummingbird feeder for the umteenth time this summer in hopes of spotting just one bird. Spilled it on the patio, had to hose it down and Casey so she wouldn't drink it! While I was putting it away, I emptied the egg carton to the egg holder, spotted a broken egg and guess what I had for breakfast? Yesterday at Thornapple Lake was the best. The weather was great and we had a nice visit with Dave, Doris, Annette, Michael and their camping friends. On the way back from our cruise, we stopped at Charleton Park which is a park filled with historic buildings, a school, church etc. from Barry County. We had the place to ourselves and many of the buildings were open for us to explore. When we boarded the pontoon, Dave discovered the steering wheel cable was no longer attached and Dave & Otto had to paddle the rest of the way back. Good thing it wasn't too far. We finished the visit with the best picnic pot-luck from the campers including turkey cooked on the grill and a hunk of New York strip large enough to feed an NFL team. They had corn, salads, garlic bread (cooked on the grill) and jalapeno hors d' oeuvres that were stuffed with cream cheese and sausage wrapped in bacon....done on the grill!
On the trip home, I was texting Brian & Andrew who were on the Capitol lawn listening to a concert performed by the Washington National Symphony (WOW) and Amanda who was waiting for Lexi to return from Detroit to ASU. Lexi texted me with the comment that the landing was the worst ever, but that she was back safe. A minute later Amanda text me to say that Lexi's grandmother died while she was flying back to ASU from her visit to see her very ill Grandmother in Detroit. What a day! It is what it is!
